In the pursuit of crafting a song echoing the essence of "cumbias romanticas," filled with tales of romance and heartbreak that resonated from my parents' music collection, I started working on this song in 2020 the first year of the pandemic. By the end of the year as restrictions started lifting I reached out to an artist/friend I had been wanting to collaborate with for some time Banana Leaf Boy.

Banana Leaf Boy is no stranger to the indie/cumbia/rock scene in L.A., his ability to capture intense emotions in his music made him the perfect artist to help me develop the song. Once we finished recording and arranging the song I knew we had something special. It became one of those tracks that I wanted to have a proper release for.

Hoping for a swift end to the pandemic, I kept the song close, recognizing its uniqueness and waiting for the perfect moment to unveil it. However, that ideal moment never arrived.

Fast forward three years later and everything started falling into place. Anta, an amazing visual artist from the Coachella Valley, embraced and exceeded our expectations by delivering the jaw-dropping cover. I had explained to him the concept of a song and he instantly came up with the idea to do the cover art in the styling of those old trailero magazines you would find as a kid scattered around your tio or grandpas garage. Finally, with the completion of the visual element, it felt like the opportune moment had arrived to release the song "Falta."
